Suncorp has appointed UBank chief executive Lee Hatton as chief executive of its banking and wealth division. Hatton had been in the position at UBank since 2015 and prior to that held senior roles at BNZ, National Australia Bank and Great Western Bank in the United States. She is a non-executive director of Xero and chair of its audit and risk committee. In addition, she is executive director of the NAB Ventures Fund and on the Women in Leadership Global Advisory Board. Jeremy Robson has been promoted as the group chief financial officer (CFO) after being in the role on an acting basis since May 2019. He was previously deputy group CFO, Suncorp Life chief executive and Suncorp Life CFO. Prior to joining Suncorp in 2013, Robson was group deputy CFO at ANZ, CFO in ANZ New Zealand and CFO of ANZ’s corporate division.
Russell Reynolds Associates has appointed Katherine Henry as a senior member of its global corporate officers sector, leading the human resources officers practice in Australia. She will be responsible for advising clients on organisational transformations, talent acquisition and development. Henry joins from Australian Energy Market Operator where she was executive general manager, people and transformation. Prior to that she was executive director, people and culture at Bellamy’s and in a similar role at UXC.
Xplore Wealth has appointed Julie Berry as a non-executive director. She takes over from Peter Brook who has announced his immediate departure. Berry is a director of the Tax Practitioners Board and of the Future2 Foundation. She was previously chair of CountPlus, chair of Financial Planning Association of Australia and chair of the Institute of Financial Advisers in New Zealand.
Dexus has appointed Bank of Queensland chair Patrick Allaway to the board of Dexus Funds Management. He was previously managing director, capital markets and treasury at Swiss Banking Corporation (now UBS) and head of North American foreign exchange sales and financial engineering at Citi. Allaway has extensive directorial experience and is a non-executive director of Nine Entertainment Co and Domain limited. He was formerly a non-executive director of Macquarie Goodman Industrial Trust, Metcash Limited, Fairfax Media, Woolworths South Africa, David Jones and Country Road Group.
Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has announced three part-time appointments to the Australian Competition Tribunal. Michael O’Bryan has been appointed as a part-time deputy president. He was previously a partner at Minter Ellison, practising in corporate law, competition and consumer law and administrative law. O’Bryan was a member of the panel that conducted the Harper Review. He was appointed to the Federal Court of Australia in 2019. Diana Eilert has joined as a part-time member of the tribunal. She is currently a non-executive director of Domain Holdings Australia, Super Retail Group, Elders and Navitas. She previously held executive positions at Citi, IBM, Suncorp and Clarius Group. Jill Walker has been appointed as a part-time member. She is a former commissioner of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission and former member of the Australian Competition Tribunal. Walker is currently a member of the New Zealand Commerce Commission and is an esteemed competition economist.
Centrepoint Alliance has appointed former CVC chief executive Alexander (Sandy) Beard to its board. He is currently a non-executive director of Probiotec Limited, Eildon Capital and TasFoods. Beard is a fellow of Institute of Chartered Accountants and a member of the Institute of Company Directors.
Contango Asset Manager has announced the resignation of Charles Aitken as a director. He had been on the board since 2016. Ken Poutakidis has been appointed as a non-executive director. He is the managing partner of Findex’s corporate finance division and is on the board of Civilex. Poutakidis was the managing director and founder of Avenue Advisory.
